Cyberbullying is a major issue, especially for teenagers. I'm happy to have gotten a chance to work on this project, because it really gave me a window back into my school age days. I really felt connected to this work after growing up in the digital age where this type of bullying was first starting to take shape. Seeing how far it's come is saddening.
From the content that our algorithm picked up, I manually sorted through each of the vile comments from social media sites (over 8,000 comments) and highlighted some of the worst of the worst for the team. The algorithm was re-trained and found even more content like it. Oh and by the way, those 8,000+ comments it picked up were from when the algorithm was live for only ONE hour.
