The anonymity of the internet enables white supremacists and other extremist groups to recruit young, vulnerable boys through the use of codewords such as “chad” or “jogger.”
My art partner, Madeleine Arch and I designed a google chrome extension that analyzes the text on webpages using a Natural Language Processing Algorithm. This technology will alert users when white supremacist codewords are detected. The informative nature of this tool equips users with skills that, in the long run, help them recognize and avoid white supremacist radicalization attempts.
